The international exhibition calendar is unusually busy over the next 16 months. Utilities are accelerating grid reinforcement, data centres are creating new demand for critical-power equipment, and renewable generation is increasing the need for flexible substations, protection systems, energy storage and digital control. For switchgear professionals, that makes the right trade show more than a sales opportunity: it is a fast way to compare technology, meet manufacturers and understand where grid investment is heading.
This guide covers major international exhibitions taking place from 9 September 2026 through 31 December 2027. Events are listed strictly by opening date. Priority has been given to established shows with meaningful coverage of one or more of the following:
- LV, MV or HV switchgear and controlgear
- transmission and distribution equipment
- substations, protection, automation and monitoring
- transformers, cables, conductors and insulating systems
- utility digitalisation, smart grids and distributed energy resources
- critical power, energy storage and industrial electrification
Dates and venues were checked against official organiser websites on 8 September 2026. Exhibition-floor hours can be shorter than the dates of the wider conference, so always check the linked event page before booking travel.

The strongest shortlist for switchgear professionals
If time and travel budgets are limited, these six events provide the strongest all-round mix of product exposure, technical depth and international participation:
- Enlit Europe 2026 — best for utility strategy, grid digitalisation and European market intelligence.
- Power Transmission & Distribution Technology Expo 2026 — best for a concentrated look at T&D hardware and enabling technology.
- EP Shanghai 2026 — best for the breadth of Asian HV/LV equipment and manufacturer sourcing.
- ELECRAMA 2027 — best for the complete electrical manufacturing ecosystem and the Indian market.
- Middle East Energy 2027 — best for commercial access to the Middle East, Africa and South Asia.
- CIRED 2027 — best for combining distribution-system research with practical MV/LV technology.
For a more research-led visit, prioritise the CIGRE and IEEE PES events. For components and transformer-adjacent supply chains, add CWIEME Berlin. For the effects of batteries, DER and renewable integration on network design, add The smarter E Europe or SMART ENERGY WEEK.
Important calendar clashes
Several leading events overlap, so international visitors may need to choose carefully:
- CIGRE Energy Forum Calgary overlaps with Enlit Asia on 22–24 September 2026.
- CWIEME Berlin and the CIGRE Symposium Heidelberg overlap on 27–29 April 2027. The cities are in the same country, but the programmes make meaningful attendance at both difficult.
- Middle East Energy and Enlit Africa take place on exactly the same dates, 11–13 May 2027.
Late-2027 events still awaiting confirmed dates
Some prominent organisers had not published a firm 2027 date and venue by the verification date. They are therefore excluded from the chronological calendar rather than assigned an estimated date.
| Event to watch | Current official status | Why it remains relevant |
|---|---|---|
| Enlit Europe | 2027 details not yet published | One of the largest international utility and energy-transition exhibitions. |
| Enlit Asia | 2027 details not yet published | Major ASEAN power and utility platform. |
| WETEX | 2027 details not yet published | Important Gulf utility, energy, water and infrastructure meeting point. |
| EP Shanghai | Shanghai confirmed for 2027; date still listed as TBA | Large, highly relevant Asian power-equipment exhibition. |
| Power Transmission & Distribution Technology Expo | 2027 details not yet published | Focused European T&D technology exhibition with direct switchgear relevance. |
How to choose the right exhibition
Before registering, define the objective of the trip. A procurement team looking for alternative suppliers will gain more from a large equipment exhibition such as EP Shanghai, ELECRAMA or Middle East Energy. A protection engineer will find more depth at CIGRE, CIRED or IEEE PES. A business-development team entering a new geography may prefer a regional platform such as Enlit Africa, Electric & Power Indonesia, FIEE or Electricity Eurasia.
Also review the exhibitor list—not just the event headline. “Energy” exhibitions can range from utility-grade T&D equipment to almost entirely solar, battery or consumer technology. Look for the specific halls, product categories and technical sessions that match your voltage level and application. Finally, arrange supplier meetings in advance: at the largest events, relying on unplanned booth visits is an inefficient way to compare complex equipment.
