Pressure-Relief Interface Review Checklist

A coordination checklist for switchgear internal-arc pressure relief, room geometry, ducts, exits and installation-specific evidence.

Internal-arc classification belongs to a tested assembly under stated conditions. The room and duct interface must preserve those conditions and keep the discharge path away from people and critical equipment.

Assembly evidence

  • Record classification, accessibility type, tested current and duration.
  • Identify tested panel width, end-panel condition, roof arrangement and cable entry.
  • Obtain manufacturer instructions for plenum, duct, wall penetration and outlet.

Room coordination

  • Confirm front, rear, side and ceiling clearances against tested configuration.
  • Check doors, escape routes, ventilation openings, cable trenches and adjacent equipment.
  • Evaluate the pressure path and possible re-entry of hot gases.
  • Keep exhaust outlets inaccessible and away from air intakes, façades and occupied zones.

Duct and support review

  • Verify section, bends, length, joints, supports and building penetration.
  • Confirm mechanical loads and reaction forces with the supplier and structural engineer.
  • Check corrosion protection, water ingress, drainage and inspection access.
  • Do not add screens, dampers or reducers unless explicitly validated.

Installation close-out

Photograph every joint and outlet, record deviations, verify fasteners and seals, and obtain manufacturer acceptance for nonstandard interfaces. A generic room pressure calculation does not by itself extend an internal-arc test certificate.
